The town of Tryavna is situated on the north flank of Stara Planina Mountain/the Balkan range/ at the altitude of 440 m. The town is in the middle of the distance from Sofia to Varna /250 km./. It lies on the railway line connecting north and south Bulgaria. It is supplied with a good transport link connecting it with Sofia and Gabrovo.

   For several centuries on end the mountain has echoed the bells of the Troyan Monastery, the third in its greatness monastery in Bulgaria, and the frescoes painted by Zahari Zograf, an artist from the period of Enlightenment, stir astonishment and admiration at the talent of the artist.
   The monastery of Glozhen towers high up the rocks of the town of Teteven and even today it keeps a vigilant eye and calls down its clapper blessings on the whole neighborhood.

   The park is one of the last preserved habitats in the world, a home of brown bears, wolfs and wild goats.
   The Central Balkan National Park together with eight of its reserves comes under the United Nations List of the Protected Territories which in itself is an international recognition of their high natural value.
